Harvest Festival State Level 2010

This year Harvest Festival was the most precious event of the year for me. Two of my beautiful cousins competed the Unduk Ngadau KDCA representing the district they competed on few weeks ago. Ledesma competed Unduk Ngadau for Tuaran District and wore TUARAN's sash in the state level while Debra claimed the 2nd Runner Up Unduk Ngadau Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu and representing Likas District at Hongkod Kooisaan. I myself had accompany them through the pre-pageant activities from registration to gala night. I must say, there were so many stunners competing this year edition. Tambunan's queen was previously Tuaran Queen and 5th place in state level, Beaufort's queen was Unduk Ngadau Klang Valley and 7th place state level, The Tanjung Aru's queen was Miss Sabah World First Runner Up 2008, Unduk Ngadau Inanam was an Unduk Ngadau IPTA/S State level 2009. Beside, there was also new faces but also stunning and gorgeous all the times. 42 contestants.

On 30th May midnight, me and all my cousin slept at my aunty's house at Kg Marabahai. We made a Banner, Bunting and Flyers for both of my cousin. My aunty's said "we may be the first group in history doing this". We chose a striking colour for the banner and bunting, Pink and Yellow. We slept at 2AM.

We arrived as early as 6am at Hongkod Kooisaan and reserved some seats for friends and family who going to come soon. we reserve two rows at the middle-left-wing of the hall. Can you ever imagine sitting on the gallery seat in the hall from 6am? it was a misery. I was sitting in pain. I need to sit for another 4 hours waiting the event began. We were somehow worried about Ledesma's condition because she wasn't feeling well since few days ago when they visited HQE. a few of the contestants also felt the same thing and i happened to know that there were three or four contestant decided not to took part in the competition.

Competition started at 11PM. Their first appearance for the VIPs. Eveyone were shouting their favourite contestant and us, we shout along with a banner and bunting and everyone was like "why i've never thinking of that?". I saw Ledesma and Debra were smiling on the stage and sometimes they glare to each other and laughing. hahahaha. There were standing side by side. Debra was contestant number 36 and Ledesma was 38.

TOP 15 was announced at 3PM. all fifthteen contestant need to answer a question they picked from the bowl. Both Debra and Ledesma were in the TOP15 along with Pitas, Penampang, Inanam, Papar, Ranau, Sook, Tamparuli, Beaufort, Tanjung Aru, Tambunan, Kota Kinabalu, Sipitang and Kuala Penyu.

Apakah yang anda faham tentang Pemanasan Global and bagaimanakah cara untuk mengatasinya?

Debra (Likas) Answer :
Pemanasan Global merupakan satu fenomena kenaikan suhu alam sekitar atau dalam erti kata lain, Peningkatan Suhu. Cara cara untuk mengatasinya adalah mengurangkan penggunakan dan pelepasan gas karbon dioksida, kurangkan aktiviti perhutanan, kurangkan aktiviti pembalakan dan amalkan penanaman pokok semula..agar.. pemanasan global dapat diatasi. Terima kasih.

Ledesma (Tuaran) Question :
Apakah yang anda faham dengan Lagenda Huminodun dan apakah signifikasi Legenda Huminodun kepada masyarakat kadazandusun?

Ledesma (Tuaran) Answer :
Legenda Huminodun merupakan anak kepada Tuhan Kinorohingan dan isterinya Suminondu yang telah mengorbankan dirinya untuk menyelamatkan masyarakat kadazandusun pada waktu dahulu. Signifikasi Legenda Huminodun kepada masyarakat kadazan dusun ialah ia dapat mengekalkan khazanah dan tradisi kadazandusun. Bak kata pepatah "Biar mati anak Jangan mati adat". Sekian Terima Kasih.

We were cheering even loud when they nailed the QnA portion and hoping that both of them will secure in the TOP7.

There were no TOP7 announcement. Usually, the Winner of the Sugandoi Kaamatan;s winner will lead each contestant who make into the Final Seven from backstage to the frontstage. First contestant came out was Pitas, followed by Penampang and then LIKAS (Debra), Tambunan came after her and Tuaran (Ledesma), Kota Kinabalu and finally Tanjung Aru. Appey Rowena, the reigning queen did her final walk before the winner announcement.
